If you’re familiar with non-dairy milk products, then you’ve probably already experimented with a variety of products. There’s a wide selection including soy, hemp, coconut, almond, and many more. Not only are these options considered healthier, but they’re highly versatile.
You may put almond milk in your tea, but have you experimented with any other uses? Start getting creative, and you are guaranteed to produce delicious results.
1. Non-Dairy Ice Cream
Non-dairy ice cream? You may be thinking, you’re kidding me, right? The truth is, vegan ice cream is not only delicious, but it’s also easy. First, choose your favorite non-dairy milk. Pour that product into an ice cube tray, freezing for a minimum of twelve hours.
In order to make this ice cream, it’s crucial that you have a high power blender. Throw your cubes in the blender, adding all your favorite additions. Some raw cocoa is a great addition, as well as pure stevia (or another natural sweetener), cinnamon, vanilla, or whatever your heart desires.
Process the cubes and your favorite additions, until you have an ice cream-like consistency. Some blenders even have an ‘ice cream’ or ‘frozen yogurt’ button. If this is the case, add a touch of water (only around 1/4 cup).
2. Breakfast Delights Made with Non-Dairy Milk
Nothing is better than Sunday brunch. Are you missing blueberry pancakes and french toast? Substitute any milk with your favorite substitute. You’ll be having incredible waffles in no time.
3. Non-Dairy Creamsicles
Creamsicles are an absolute delight on a hot day. They’re simple to make, you won’t even notice that they’re dairy-free. Blend up four cups of your non-dairy milk, mixing it with one orange.
Depending on the flavor profile you’d like to achieve, you can also use around ten drops of stevia liquid (orange flavored). Then, pour your mixture into molds. After approximately eight or nine hours, they’re ready to enjoy.
4. Vegan Desserts
Baking is an area where non-dairy milk works well, adding moisture and flavor. If you’re baking a cake and the recipe calls for water, replace the water content with non-dairy milk. Like I said, you’ll have a cake that’s moist and possibly having a hint of almond, cashew, or coconut flavor (depending on the milk you choose).
5. Ranch Dressing with No Dairy
The ranch has to be one of the favored dressing options, as it can be used for so many recipes and food items. It can be used on sandwiches, in wraps, or simply as a dip. To make your very own, measure one 1/2 of a cup of plain non-dairy milk (plain soy is good for dressings).
Then, add the 1/2 cup to a blender. Blend the non-dairy milk with a teaspoon of both chives and parsley, the juice from one lemon, two ounces of silk tofu, a touch of onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Once blended, you’re ready to add it to your favorite dishes.
6. Muffins with Almond Milk
When baking muffins, there are unlimited options. Non-dairy milk substitutes work well, as they compliment flavors that are commonly used within muffins. Almond milk is a favorite, as it works well with chocolate, fruit, and other ingredients.
If you’d like vegan muffins, you can also use bananas as a binder, instead of using eggs. Once again, get creative. Coconut milk would also be a great substitute. No need to miss out on moist muffins, start using your favorite non-dairy milk substitute.
7. Pasta Sauce
You can make a creamy, garlic pasta sauce without using any dairy. When you mix garlic, shallots, flour, almond milk, and seasoning, you can create a beautiful sauce. Toss your pasta in this creation, adding any vegetables (roasted cherry tomatoes work well).
8. Non-Dairy Chowder
There’s nothing quite like a chowder on a cold, wet day. You can achieve this comforting soap with non-dairy milk, your standard soup ingredients, and some flour. The milk product and flour that you use is up to you.
Mix approximately 1 tablespoon of flour and 3 tablespoons of your desired milk, per bowl of chowder. Then, at the end of your cooking time, add this mixture to thicken your chowder. Whether you’re making a corn chowder or a clam chowder, it is sure to warm you up.
